Hafez Nuruzzaman, a 30-year-old youth from Habiganj, impressed the countrymen by inventing the first air-powered motorcycle in Bangladesh. The news of his invention caused a nationwide response. That young inventor Nuruzzaman was killed in a road accident.
Nuruzzaman and 3 other passengers were killed in a private car-truck collision at Sohagpur of Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria on Dhaka-Sylhet highway yesterday on November 23 at 2 pm. The deceased Nuruzzaman is the son of farmer Syed Ali and Rokeya Begum of Ritchie village in Habiganj Sadar Upazila.
It is known that in the afternoon Nuruzzaman along with 6 other passengers were going to Dhaka by private car. When the car reached Sohagpur on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, it collided with a sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction. 3 unidentified passengers were killed on the spot and 4 passengers including Nuruzzaman were injured. At that time, the locals rescued the injured and took them to the modern hospital in Brahmanbaria Sadar, where the doctor on duty declared Nuruzzaman dead. Nuruzzaman was a third year student of Auto Mobile Engineering Department of Shyamoli Polytechnic Institute, Chittagong.
It is to be noted that this young budding inventor Hafez Nuruzzaman officially rode a wind-powered motorcycle in Habiganj Technical School and College area on March 5 this year. His invented bicycle does not require any oil-petrol. This eco-friendly motorcycle will run only on air. His invention received a response across the country.
