This mosque is located in Xian, China. It is the oldest and most historic mosque in China. The mosque was built in 742. Later this mosque was renovated several times. This mosque has no dome and no minaret. This mosque is built entirely in Chinese architecture. The total area of this mosque is 12 thousand square meters. The mosque is divided into 4 parts. Each level has large functional doors at the entrance.
In the main prayer room of this mosque, 1000 Muslims can pray at the same time. However, the total capacity of people in the border is about 60 thousand people. There is a historic stone table inside this mosque. The open spaces within the mosque boundaries include flower gardens and seating arrangements. Near the main prayer room is the 'Moon Gate'. Entering the Moon Gate reveals two small but tall man-made mountains. These two hills are used for moon sighting in Islamic religious ceremonies.
