India-Bangladesh

India gifted the historical and precious 'radio record' of 1971 liberation war to Bangladesh. The All India Radio (AIR) Authority presented this gift to President Md. Abdul Hamid who was visiting India. For a long time there has been an application from Bangladesh to get this valuable 'radio record'. Finally, the All India Radio Authority gave it as a gift to Bangladesh at the request of the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.

According to media sources, AIR had saved this record in the form of a CD with the speeches, statements and interviews of the top leaders of the two countries, including Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during the Liberation War. Many items of records were not preserved in Bangladesh. Those that exist, also lack original records. That is why this important document of the liberation war will enrich the history of the liberation war - Bangladesh thinks so.

It is known that this historical record also contains the important speech given by Bangabandhu in January 1972 in the newly independent Bangladesh. The record also contains statements and interviews on the surrender of Pakistani forces on December 16.

It is known that the historical records of the liberation war in the form of two CDs were presented to the President of Bangladesh. One CD is titled 'Struggle of a Nation'. It contains records of important events broadcast on Aakashbani Kolkata from March 1971 to 16 December 1971. It also contains a newsreel titled 'Sambad Vichitra'. 'Sambad Bichitra' aired by Aakashvani was a source of inspiration during the freedom fighters.

The title of the second CD is 'Liberation of Bangladesh'. It contains records broadcast from Aakashvani Delhi. The surrender of Pakistani forces in Dhaka on December 16, the important speeches of Bangabandhu and Indira Gandhi, the statement of the Lok Sabha of India are also included in this CD.

It should be noted that during the liberation war of 1971, the role of Aakashbani Kolkata was similar to that of the propaganda mouthpiece of Bangladesh. Because of which many important records were deposited with them. These records are very important for Bangladesh.
