The mosque you are looking at is the historic Kusamba Mosque located in Manda Upazila of Naogaon District. The gray stone Kusamba Mosque is located on the western bank of the Swachh Salila Dighi.
Kusamba Dighi is 1250 feet long and 900 feet wide. It is said that due to the presence of mercury in the lake water no weeds grow. Two inscriptions on the mosque have raised doubts about the date of its establishment. However, inscriptions at the central entrance prove that this mosque was built in 1558 during the reign of Ghiyas-ud-din Bahadur Shah I (1554-1560), the Afghan Sultan, a descendant of Sher Shah.
The mosque is 58 feet long and 42 feet wide. The mosque has 6 circular domes in two rows. There are 3 mihrabs beautifully carved in black stone. Two are smaller but the middle one is quite large. But there are several rumors about the mosque. Many people's minds are swayed by the wave of disbelief. Keoba said, 'The mosque was built by the jinns in one night.' The old and new 5 rupee notes of Bangladesh have the image of Kusamba Mosque.
