The Dhaka Times Desk We all know the news of how many teachers have come down to the streets and even given their lives for their salaries. But even after 6 years of death, a teacher is getting paid! We also see such amazing news.

According to a daily report, Abdus Salam Mollah, a teacher of management department of Patuakhali Mirzaganj Subid Khali Women's Degree College, died in 2007. But on paper he has been alive for 6 years. Salaries and allowances are all going in his name. His account number, index number are all correct. However, the college's Bengali department teacher Veenapani Adhikari is taking this money through corruption. He is signing the signature of deceased Abdus Salam. The bank account number is the same. MPO number is also correct. The college principal, governing body, bank officials and educational building officials are involved in this corruption.
Director General of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSI) Professor Fahima Khatun has confirmed to the media that the salary and allowances have been going to the account of the deceased for a long time. He said, I can't think how such an incident can happen in the school. He said that many people including the principal of the college are involved in this. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education investigated the matter after receiving complaints that the salary and allowances were going in the name of the deceased. The investigation found evidence of this terrible corruption. The officials of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSI) are shaken after gathering the evidence of this incident. A two-member committee headed by Maushi Deputy Director Abul Hossain investigated the matter. The investigation report has been submitted to the Ministry of Education. The investigation committee has recommended action against those involved in corruption.
On investigation, it was found that from 2007 to February 2013, the teacher of Subid Khali Women's Degree College had used the name of deceased Abdus Salam Mollah to receive salary and allowances from Veenapani Adhikari. Although he is a teacher of that institution, he does not belong to MPO. Before this, another order was given to stop the salary and allowances, but it did not work.
The inquiry committee report recommended the suspension of salary and allowances in the name of the deceased teacher. Since March of this year, payment of salary and allowances to the account in the name of the deceased teacher has been stopped. According to the sources of the investigation committee, they went to Mirzaganj of Patuakhali and got the evidence. A member of the investigation committee said that the principal of the college, members of the governing body, bank officials are involved in this corruption. Moreover, such corruption is not possible. The member expressed surprise as to how the salary went in the name of the deceased for so many years.
Abdur Rahman, principal of the college, said that Abdus Salam's money was given to Binapani Adhikari with the permission of the governing body. When asked if it falls under the level of irregularity, the principal said that it happens in private colleges. He said it was stopped after the complaint was raised. He said that he is the founder principal of the college. When asked whether the deceased's family knew about the matter, the principal said that private and government colleges are not the same.
Professor Fahima Khatun, director general of Maushi, said that we investigated the matter after receiving the complaint. The investigation proved that the salary and allowances were paid in the name of the dead teacher. He said, many people are involved in this. He said, we are trying to eliminate corruption. I will not say that I am 100% successful. But I keep trying. It cannot be said that all our officers are honest. But I can say that I will not tolerate corruption. We will take action against whoever is involved.
Such events also happen in our country! Where a teacher is not getting paid for hard work - dead teacher's salary is being taken away through corruption.
