HC rules to pay Rs 30 lakh compensation to Jihad's family

The Dhaka Times Desk The High Court ruled to pay Rs 30 lakh compensation to Jihad's family. The High Court bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Kazi Md. Izarul Haque Akander issued this ruling on the hearing of a separate writ today.

The High Court has issued a ruling seeking to know why the family of Jihad, who fell into a pipe in the capital's Shajahanpur, should not be ordered to pay Tk 30 lakh compensation. The High Court bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Kazi Md. Izarul Haque Akander issued this ruling on the hearing of a separate writ today.

Also why the negligence of Fire Service, WASA, Railways and City Corporation in the death of Shishu Jihad will not be declared illegal and why the Fire Service, WASA and Railway authorities will be directed to prepare a list of the number of unprotected pipes, manholes, manholes and sewage pipes across the country. Along with this, it has been ordered to inform the court by May 15 about the amount of equipment purchased and trained by the fire service in the last 2 years.

Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Abdul Halim filed this writ in the High Court on behalf of Children's Charity Bangladesh Foundation, seeking a direction to pay 30 lakh rupees compensation to Jihad's family on December 27 after the body of Jihad was recovered on December 27.

It is to be noted that on December 26 last year at around 3:30 pm, Shishu Jihad fell into the pump pipe of the railway field near Basa in Shahjahanpur of the capital. Jihad's body was recovered after about 23 hours on December 27 at 3:30 pm.
