The Dhaka Times Desk 'Til te tal hai' is just a proverb but the youth of Senua Ghatpara area of Thakurgaon proved it in reality. After building the road with the voluntary labor of the local people to make the travel easier, they are now working to build a dam on the Senua River by picking rice!
It is known that Senua Ghatpara area is 4 km away from the city. It takes a lot of time for local residents to come to the city. Meanwhile, behind the cremation ghat is a road known as Darjeeling. The distance to the city is 1-2 km through this road. So the locals have already completed the construction of the road through voluntary labor for commuting. The local people have taken the initiative to build bamboo huts on the Senua river by taking handfuls of rice (a handful of rice from the pot while cooking rice and storing it) from house to house. If this bridge is constructed, the traffic of the area will be easy. People no longer have to travel 4 km.
The local residents said that some young people in the area are working to construct sankos by raising fistfuls of rice from house to house in order to facilitate travel. This is a great initiative.
Salandar Union Parishad Chairman Fazle Elahi Mukut Chowdhury said that some young people of the area are working on the construction of Sanko on their own initiative. An application will be made to the Local Government Engineering Department for a bridge over Senua River.
Shahanur Islam, Executive Director of Thakurgaon Local Government Engineering Department, said that no written application for the construction of roads or dams has been received from the side of that area. However, if the application is made on behalf of the Union Parishad, the application will be made to the Directorate of Local Government Engineering.
The initiative taken by the youth of the area without being a bystander deserves praise. If you want, it is possible to build many things gradually.
