Male rats also sing like birds to attract female rats. Again, they change the tone of their voice based on the season, time and weather while singing.
Researchers have also claimed that rats sing better than birds and humans. The fact that mice sing is not new - the research team at Duke University in North Carolina, USA, has already found evidence.
According to the conducted research, the researchers discovered the matter of singing to attract female mice. In the study, they placed some male and female mice in two cages side by side.
Researchers also use a special instrument to capture and analyze their high-pitched sounds. The device used is a rat's hearing ability that is much higher than that of humans. The researchers recorded the sound and found that male mice began to sing as soon as they smelled the female mouse's body. That is, a male rat in a cage starts singing when it sees another female rat. When the female mouse looks at the male mouse, they begin to sing in a softer tone.
