In this situation, diplomatic action is needed to bring Salahuddin back to the country.
Kolkata's English daily Telegraph published a report on Thursday, citing Meghalaya Director General of Police Rajeev Mehta. Rajeev Mehta told the Telegraph that a request for information about Salahuddin has been sent to Interpol's Dhaka unit, stating that there are several criminal cases against him in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital in Shillong, Meghalaya state, India, has been interrogated by the officers of the special branch of the state police. BBC Bengal's Amitabh Bhattasali from Shillong told the BBC that two officers from the Special Branch of the Meghalaya Police interrogated him for about two hours in the hospital's prison ward on Thursday afternoon. However, what they found out during the interrogation was not disclosed.
However, there is one issue being discussed in the political circles, that is - BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia made a statement to the media on May 10, asking the RAB to return Salahuddin. Within 48 hours of this, Salahuddin was found in Shillong and various speculations are going on in various circles including political circles. A lot of curiosity has arisen whether Khaleda Zia's statement has any connection with finding Salahuddin, who has been missing for two months. Apart from this, many people consider the silence of BNP's strategists to be mysterious after searching for Salahuddin.
