The body of Omar Farooq Babu was recovered from the security zone of Ansar members on duty in the hospital two days after he disappeared from the ward under treatment in Dhaka Medical!
He was under treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. His body was found there on Tuesday morning.
The family of the deceased and witnesses said that the place where Omar Farooq's body was found is under the control of Ansar members. The collapsible gate at the entrance is locked. How did he get in there?
The family and relatives of the deceased complained that the Ansar members engaged in the security of the hospital called him and strangled him to death in a planned manner. However, Ansar commander Abdul Khaliq and assistant commander Abu Taleb could not provide any information in this regard. Hospital officials said that Ansar member Zaheed has the key to the entrance gate of the security zone.
Irene Akhter, the wife of the deceased, said that welding mister Babu lived in Rajasan area of Savar. After the collapse of Rana Plaza, he like many others worked there as a rescue worker.
Since then he has mental problems. He can't sleep with fear, sometimes shakes with fear. Every night after sleeping late at night, Arta would wake up shouting 'Save' Bachao. This is how her husband Omar Farooq Babu got scared and gradually lost his mental balance and fell ill!
On May 1, when the same condition prevailed, he sought the help of a local doctor. On the advice of that doctor, she took her husband to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical Center for treatment on May 2. On that day, he was admitted to Ward 315 of the Medicine Unit on the advice of the doctor. There, the concerned doctor was giving regular treatment by keeping him in the ward bed after various tests. In his service, she also stayed by her husband's bedside day and night in that ward's bed in the hospital. After Omar Farooq was admitted to the hospital, Nand-Vasur and his close relatives used to go to the hospital every day to inquire about the treatment. She also said that on the day of the incident last Sunday, May 5, at 3:30 p.m., she left her husband in bed and went to answer the call of nature. At 3:30 in the afternoon, he returned to the ward and saw that there was no husband Omar Farooq in the bed!
Then his wife Irene told the matter to Babu's relatives. On hearing the news, Babu's elder sister Hena came to Dhaka to look for her brother. But Sandhyan did not meet.
However, investigating officer SI Sohail Rana said that the victim's neck had deep wound marks like a rope. Police believe that he may have been killed by strangulation. The police have sent his body to the morgue for post-mortem.
Note: Ever since the collapse of the 8-story building 'Rana Plaza' at Savar Bazar bus stand on April 24, her husband Omar Farooq Babu, along with the army, fire service and volunteers, has been carrying out rescue operations for the workers of the garment factory trapped in the rubble. Along with about 30 bodies.
