For the first time, the Facebook authorities have given information to the Bangladesh government. In the 'Government Request Report' published by Facebook on April 28 with information from July to December 2015, it is said that information on 31 accounts was requested in 12 requests from Bangladesh at that time.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) requested Facebook authorities to remove 4 contents.
Facebook authorities said that they have responded to Bangladesh's request. The response rate to this request is 16.67 percent. Apart from this, 4 contents have also been removed.
Earlier in the report published on Facebook on November 12, 2015, the government of Bangladesh asked Facebook for information about 3 accounts between January and June of that year. The information of these 3 persons was requested through 3 requests. However, Facebook did not respond to the government's request.
According to media reports, the government sought information about the accounts of 5 people through 5 requests in the last 6 months of 2014. In the first 6 months of that year, the Bangladesh government asked Facebook for the information of 17 accounts. This information is sought through a total of 7 requests.
In August 2013, the Bangladesh government sought the information of 12 people. Facebook authorities did not respond to any request of Bangladesh until the first 6 months of 2015, but this is the first time that Facebook authorities have responded to any request of the Bangladesh government.
Facebook publishes this report every 6 months. It highlights the requests made by the government of any country to Facebook.
It should be noted that the Bangladesh government closed Facebook for 22 days at the end of last year. Several days later, there was a meeting with the representative of the Facebook authority.
