Biometric re-registration has fallen in the retailer's shop!

The Dhaka Times Desk After announcing that the re-registration time-limit will not be extended in the biometric system, on April 29, re-registration has fallen in the retailer's shops!

Yesterday, on April 28, State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim said that SIM registration time is not being extended. According to the previous announcement, the unregistered SIM will be closed for 3 hours on May 1! Basically after this announcement came the crowd is being noticed in the retailer's shops. Those who thought that the government might extend the time-limit are rushing for SIM registration.

Today, April 29 morning, retailers' shops are extremely crowded. Talking to Bhashantech retailer Shanta about this, he said that many people are coming today for SIM registration. We spent the last two months sitting down. Many people are lazy and did not do SIM registration. Everyone is flocking after the official announcement of not extending the time limit. But due to so much pressure there is a problem in SIM registration with biometric system. The network is not available at all. Registration is also taking time due to network.

In almost all areas of the capital, there was a rush throughout the day for SIM re-registration by biometric method.

Meanwhile, Grameenphone and Banglalink have already written to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission-BTRC to extend the deadline for the ongoing biometric SIM registration process. Grameenphone has applied for an extension of 2 months till June 30 to complete SIM registration. On the other hand, Banglalink has applied to extend the time till May 31 i.e. by 1 month.

It should be noted that the government had fixed the time till April 30. As of Wednesday (April 27) evening, 7 crore 79 lakh SIMs have been registered through biometric system. Another 1 crore 21 lakh customers are out of the scope of this registration.
