The picture you are looking at is the picture of Baba Adam Masjid located on the banks of Dhaleswari in Munshiganj.
Baba Adam was born in 1099 in Taif, near Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Later, Bara Pir came to Baghdad in present-day Iraq to seek the companionship of Hazrat Abdul Qadeer Jilani (R.A.) for the pursuit of spiritual knowledge.
Despite being born in distant Arabia, he came to the Indian subcontinent only to preach Islam.
In 1178, during the Sen rule, he came to Mirkadim, located on the banks of Dhaleswari in present-day Munshiganj, Bangladesh. At that time, Bikrampur and Munshiganj were under the rule of Ballal Sen, king of the Sen dynasty. He was martyred in the same year by Ballal Sen.
This Baba Adam Mosque was built in 888 Hijri and 1483 AD. It takes 4 years to build the mosque.
Baba Adam Mosque has 6 domes on its roof. The length of the mosque from north to south is 43 feet. And 36 feet in width. The walls of the mosque are made of red terracotta bricks which are about 4 feet wide. Brick sizes are 10 inches, 7 inches, 6 inches and 5 inches. The facade has 3 arched entrances, the middle one of which is currently in use. The interior has 3 arches on the west wall. On the east wall is an inscription in Arabic script.
In 1909, the Archaeological Survey of India took an initiative to restore and preserve this mosque. However, no further renovation work was done after that.
In 1991, an iron boundary fence was erected by the Directorate of Archeology of Bangladesh.
