The Dhaka Times Desk The incident of a police officer cutting the hair of a female colleague happened in Nigeria. A senior commander of the road safety organization there cut the long hair of the female officers under him with scissors in his own hands!
According to a BBC Bangla report, the country has some rules for keeping hair for women policemen working in the road safety agency. There is no mention in the rules that they cannot have long hair.
During an early morning inspection of a parade of policemen, the senior commander noticed that many of the women members had long hair. Without delay, he immediately started using scissors with his own hands.
An official of that organization said that the work done by the senior commander is completely illegal. A spokesperson for Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari described the incident as "demeaning to women". However, no statement from the accused police officer has been received yet.
It should be noted that the photo of the haircut of the female members was posted on the Facebook page of the Nigerian Road Safety Organization. Then when those pictures were widely spread on social media, those pictures were removed from the official Facebook page in the face of severe criticism.
