The Dhaka Times Desk Humayun Ahmed's wife Meher Afroz Shaon has sent a legal notice to the author and publisher of the book 'Humayun Ahmed's last days'. Biswajit Saha, the owner of Muktdhara in New York and Engineer Md., the owner of Bangla Prakash in Dhaka. This legal notice has been given against Mehdi Hasan.
Late popular fiction writer Humayun Ahmed's wife Meher Afroz Shawon has issued a legal notice to two publishers, alleging that the book published on the events before his death contains false information. Senior Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Roknuddin Mahmood sent the legal notice on behalf of Shaon.
The notice asked Shaon to withdraw, destroy and apologize to Shaon for publishing the book titled 'Last Days of Humayun Ahmed' from the market within 15 days. Otherwise, legal action has been taken against the two publishers in Bangladesh and America. The notice was sent to the concerned by courier service on May 22 and by e-mail on May 25.
Shawon's legal notice states that Humayun Ahmed fell from a plastic chair after an operation on June 12, 2012, including pages 71 and 88 of the book. Then his body got infected with bacteria. When he was taken to the hospital after this incident, the fact of the fall was concealed from the doctor. As his condition worsened day by day, he could no longer speak on June 21. A picture of Humayun Ahmed sitting on a plastic chair has been printed to prove the truth of the statement written in the book.
In detailing the information about the writing of the book, it is said in this notice that the statement published in the book is not true at all. By writing this, Humayun Ahmed has been indirectly accused of neglecting Shawn's duties. On June 21, Humayun Ahmed could not speak. The allegation is not true. After June 21, the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations. Abdul Momen and Dhaka University Professor Manjurul Islam talked to Humayun Ahmed. Besides, Humayun Ahmed did not fall from the chair. The picture sitting on the plastic chair is mentioned in the notice as the picture of sitting on the chair during the shooting (shooting of Jotsna and Janani story drama) in Matikata area of Dhaka Cantonment in 2008.
