The Dhaka Times Desk Apu Biswas converted to Islam very secretly while marrying Shakib Khan. His name is Apu Islam Khan. Apu Biswas told the media how he used to fast at that time.
In an interview given to the media on the occasion of Ramadan, Apu said, I fast after marriage. Even other worships of Islam have been mastered gradually.
Apu said, after becoming a Muslim, I became more curious about Islam. After marriage, I started learning all the aspects of Islam by myself. I tried to know the details slowly. How to perform ablution, how to pray, how to fast, I mastered everything. I learned everything by reading books and with the help of one of my relatives.
Apu currently fasts regularly. He does not break the fast unless there is too much trouble. He said, it took some time to understand the concept of fasting in the first year of marriage. So I couldn't fast the first year. But after one year of marriage I fast regularly. Even if I could not keep all of them, I tried to keep more than 20 hours every year.
He told the media that Apu Biswas does not have any problem in fasting. The reason is that according to the rules of Hinduism, he used to fast regularly. So very naturally Apu can fast. Usually Shakib-Apu eat Sehri and Iftar together when they are not out shooting. Apu says, I always sit ready for Sehri. But Shakib wakes up late. Many a times he does Sehri by eating a glass of milk or mango as he doesn't have time.
According to news media, this star couple has several funny experiences with fasting. Since Apu's conversion to Islam and marriage was a secret, Apu had to face a lot of problems in keeping her fast during the shooting. Apu said, I would have been in a lot of trouble if I had been shooting during fasting. The reason is that every now and then the production people would bring food to the set. I used to return them with various arguments. I could never say I am fasting.
Apu said, once a very funny incident happened on the shooting sets. I had a sequence where I had to eat food. But then I was fasting. Shakib was also in the sequence. When Suman Bhai was explaining the short to me, Shakib said, Suman is eating now, does it need to be shown? Instead of taking the sequence of eating, take the food that fell from the hand while eating. That would be better. I laughed a lot listening to him that day. Shakib changed the sequence that day to keep my fast a secret. On that day, the shooting was done as per Shakib's words.
