The Dhaka Times Desk In recent times information technology has led to an addiction to simena-drama at home. There is absolutely no habit of going to the hall and watching movies. Due to which many cinema halls in the country have closed down. This time 80 cinema halls which were closed on the occasion of Eid have opened.
It is known that these 80 cinema halls will be open for at least three months on the occasion of the next two Eids, ie Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha. Because then the audience will go to the cinema hall to see the new film even if it is for 3-4 days. But these cinema halls are closed during other times of the year due to lack of audience.
Mia Alauddin, the former general secretary of the Film Exhibitors Association, said in this context, 'Now the number of cinema halls in the whole country is only 212. Like every year, 80 closed cinema halls across the country are opening this Eid. These cinema halls are increasing keeping Eid in front. These cinema halls are opened in the hope of profit during Eid of fasting and Eid of sacrifice. Audience gets 80 additional cinema halls for three months. After showing these films on two Eids, the cinema hall owners closed those halls again for the whole year. The reason for this is that they do not want to make losses by bringing new films.'
It has been reported that some of the cinema halls in the capital may close down soon due to lack of audience, namely Anand, Abhisar, Azad, Mansi, Anang and Rajmani.
