The Dhaka Times Desk According to a report, among the country's students, 69 percent of eighth to twelfth grade girls are addicted to the Internet. 83 percent of them are active on various social media including Facebook, Viber, Imo, Instagram.

This information has emerged in a survey by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) of the Government's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department. The survey was conducted as part of a workshop titled 'Cyber Security Awareness for Women Empowerment', media reports said.
According to the news, about 10 thousand 220 female students of 40 schools and colleges of 7 divisions of the country participated in this survey. This workshop was conducted recently to sensitize female students about cyber crime. This information was presented in the event organized at the Ideal College Auditorium in Dhanmondi of the capital.
In that event, it was said that 44 percent of students use the Internet at least 2 to 3 hours a day. But the surprising thing is that 39 percent parents are not aware about this. 93 percent of the students who participated in the workshop said that they have no idea about IT Act.
