If the body's immune system is not weakened, a person recovers within a few weeks after being infected with chikungunya. However, chikungunya can have some long-lasting effects on the body of some people. In this case, the effects that may occur are mentioned-
- Chikungunya can cause long-term joint pain. Generally, this problem is more common in elderly people. Because of this pain, many people cannot carry out normal daily activities even 15-18 months after contracting chikungunya.
