639 nails were recovered from the operation!

The Dhaka Times Desk No one thought that something like that could come out of a patient's stomach. But it happened. 639 nails were recovered from the operation! Recently such an incident happened in Kolkata Medical College.

Nails are available at hardware stores. But the number of nails sticking out of the patient's stomach looks like a hardware store! During surgery, the doctors 'opened' the stomach and found hundreds of nails of various sizes stuck around. Taking them out one by one is an almost impossible task. Finally, the patient's stomach was cleaned with the help of a magnet and the nails were recovered. It can be seen that 639 nails were extracted from the stomach of the 48-year-old man. Also came out a lot of soil!

According to Kolkata Medical College sources, Pradeep Babu, a resident of Gobardanga in North 24 Parganas, was a patient of schizophrenia. He did not talk much with the people of the house. He muttered to himself all the time. The doctors told him not to irritate him. So the people of the house did not bother him that much. He used to eat dinner alone in the courtyard. He used to sit prostrate on the ground most of the time.

Vishwanath, a cousin of Pradeep Babu said, "He used to pick up various upside down things from the ground and put them in his mouth. He couldn't always see eye to eye."

Excruciating stomach pain for last two months. At first the family thought it was a simple stomach upset. However, the general medicine did not decrease. After the puja, as the condition became increasingly difficult, Dr. Siddharth Biswas, a surgeon from the Kolkata Medical College, saw him at a local nursing home. He took an X-ray and found that there was something black inside Pradeepbabu's stomach. Existence of metal object was detected after endoscopy. He decided to do the operation under compulsion. Recently, Pradeep Babu was admitted to Kolkata Medical College. After admission, the operation begins. The doctors opened their eyes with a knife in the stomach.

Surgeon Dr. Siddharth Babu said, "We are shocked while cutting the stomach. There are countless nails.” All nails are removed by cutting a section of about 15 cm. Counting showed that there were 639 nails in his stomach!

Surgeon Dr. Siddharth Babu also said that not only the nail, they also found quite a bit of soil from inside the stomach. Dr. Siddharth Biswas said that the patient is suffering from schizophrenia. He would pick it up from the ground and put it in his mouth. This is how the nail entered his stomach. That nail didn't go into the trachea. Currently the patient is healthy. However, due to rusting of the old iron nail, usually in all these cases, even if the nail is removed, there is still a possibility of stomach infection.
