Lawrence previously worked as a rescue cat. In the light of that experience, he has been given a job at the British Embassy. A Twitter account has already been opened in his name. The number of his followers has crossed two and a half thousand.
According to a report by Reuters, the cat has been named 'Lawrence of Abdun' due to its historical background. The name of Thomas Edward Lawrence is associated with this name.
Thomas Edward Lawrence was nicknamed 'Lawrence of Arabia' because he fought for Arabia against the Ottoman Empire in World War I. From there, the Lawrence part of his name was added to the cat's name. On the other hand the name Abdun comes from a place name. The British Embassy in Jordan is located in Abdoun, a neighboring town of Amman. It is from the name of that city that 'Abdun' is added to the name of the cat.
Meanwhile, apart from joining the work officially, Lawrence has already reached out to fans on Twitter. Laura Dauban, a diplomat at the British Embassy in Jordan, said in a tweet that now British citizens will look at their country's embassy in Jordan differently. He also urged British tourists to visit their country's embassy in Jordan.
