According to The Guardian, all electric trains in the Netherlands are now wind-powered. The country's national railway company Netherlands Spurwigen (NS) confirmed this information.
NS spokesperson Ton Boon confirmed that their electric trains have been 100% wind powered since January 1, 2017 last year.
It is known that two years ago, the company called Eneco got the job through NS tender. According to the agreement, all NS trains are supposed to be air-powered from January 2018, but the air-powered trains have been launched a year before the contract period.
Ton Boon also said that we have reached our target a year ahead of schedule. With windmills all over the country and coastal areas, our achievement was made possible quickly.
Eneco and NS recently announced on a joint website that nearly 6 lakh passengers are using the 'world's first' air-powered train every day.
