The Dhaka Times Desk Still not the final news, but the Myanmar media said with this news, Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi is resigning!
Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar's state adviser and leader of the country's ruling National League for Democracy (NLD), is rumored to retire at any moment. The rumors intensified after Suu Kyi said at a meeting of the party's executive committee that she wanted to step down if possible.
However, on Sunday, an NLD spokesperson dismissed rumors of Suu Kyi's resignation. Spokesperson U Myo Nyunt said that, 'News has come out that Aung San Suu Kyi is retiring. I said no. But if the party workers work hard, he will retire. This is what she (Suu Kyi) always says. But that does not mean that he will retire soon.'
Earlier on Saturday, at a meeting of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the country's ruling NLD political party, Suu Kyi said she would like to resign if possible. After these comments by NLD leader Suu Kyi, reports of her resignation appeared in the country's media.
"The meeting in Nay Pyi Taw was just a social gathering," NLD spokesperson U Myo Nyunt said of Saturday's meeting. No political issues were discussed in the meeting.
