According to media reports, 9 businessmen from the Central American country of Guatemala were trapped while trying to get contract work with bribes. The court also ordered construction of roads and a school in the country in addition to the fine. This information was given in Reuters news last Wednesday.
According to information provided by the UN-backed International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG), the 9 businessmen were sentenced.
Last year, Guatemala's prosecutor's office and CICIG filed corruption charges against the businessmen.
CICIG said in a statement that these 9 businessmen paid bribes to get government jobs quickly. The Guatemalan tribunal fined each of them $67,500. Also they have to repair and build at least 6 roads together. Besides, the court ordered to build a school in the remote areas of this poor country.
