Myanmar's army has been blacklisted by the United Nations. The United Nations took such action after allegations of sexual abuse against Rohingya Muslim women in the country were proven. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, citing international doctors, also presented a report in this regard to the Security Council last Friday.
In the report, he mentioned, most of the Rohingya Muslim women and girls were subjected to sexual violence at the hands of the Myanmar army and they have become psychological refugees. Now they are forced to live in indescribable misery.
The UN Secretary-General also said in the report that army personnel deliberately sexually assaulted women to threaten, humiliate and terrorize Rohingya Muslims, forcing them to leave Myanmar. So that they can't even think of coming back.
Reports of sexual abuse of Rohingya Muslim women at the hands of Myanmar's military have surfaced in various reports by international human rights organizations. It is mentioned in those reports that even the girl children were not spared from the torture. Human rights organizations have called it the worst crime against humanity.
International Criminal Court Counsel Ed: Fatou Bom Bensouda said the brutal massacre of Rohingya Muslims is not a small matter. The International Criminal Court should immediately initiate a judicial investigation into this matter.
