Khan Bahadur Abu Nasr Mohammad Ehia alias Jitu Miah started his career as a sub-register. Nevertheless, he was also the Vice Chairman and Honorary Magistrate of Sylhet Municipality from 1897 to 1903. At that time Jitu Mia's family's lavish lifestyle was widely discussed in Sylhet. It is said that at that time, the drawing room of this house was decorated with Turkish dice, Russian-Turkish war, and various photographs of princes of the British royal family. In 1924, Jitu Mia declared herself childless and waqfed all her properties to preserve the existence of her zamindari forever. The then Deputy Commissioner KB Ehia was also appointed the Mutawalli of the Wakf Estate. At present, the Mutawalli of this estate is appointed ex-officio as the Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Division.
Apart from the various furniture used in Jitu Mia's house, calligraphed verses of Holy Quran and Hadith, black table and 20 chairs will also be noticed in the meeting room of that time. At present, descendants of the zamindar clan are said to be living in 8 living rooms inside the house.
