Anandabazar Patrika, an influential newspaper in Kolkata, reported that a priest married Sharat and Anju according to the Hindu tradition in the mosque premises. Guests from both communities were present. For them was a traditional Kerala vegetarian feast.
According to the news media, the financial condition of Anjud's family is not good at all. That's why Anju's mother wants help from the mosque committee. He requested to arrange his daughter's marriage.
The mosque authorities responded to the mother's request. The Masjid Committee gave Anju 10 gold coins and two lakh rupees as a wedding gift. Arrangements are also made for food and drink for thousands of people.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan congratulated newlyweds Sarat and Anju, their families and the mosque committee on Facebook.
Congratulating him, he said that Kerala has always borne the best example of communal harmony. It should be maintained at all times.
