The Dhaka Times Desk After the announcement that the verdict would be implemented, widespread vandalism broke out across the country. A child and his mother were burnt alive in a covered van in Gazipur. Although the court adjourned the verdict till 10:30 today.

Suddenly, widespread violence started in different parts of the country due to the execution of the verdict. A covered van passenger child and his mother were killed in a petrol bomb hurled by blockade supporters in Mogarkhal area of Dhaka-Bypass road of Gazipur Sadar Upazila.

The casualties occurred when the siege supporters threw petrol bombs on the front part of a Pertex Group covered van and set it on fire at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday. At that time, Adam Ali's wife and his daughter, who were in the van, were burnt to death. Apart from this, Adam Ali and his two-year-old daughter Sadia are under treatment in the hospital due to burns.

Some miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the front of the van. At this time, the fire from the bomb spread quickly. The driver and the helper managed to get out, but the mother and daughter in the front seat were burnt to death. At the same time the passenger of that car Adam and his daughter Sadia were burnt. The injured were rescued and sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital.

Adam Ali, who was injured in the fire, said that the covered van was going to Bogra. They boarded the van to go to Sirajganj from Rupganj in Narayanganj. His wife Sumi Akhtar (28) and his daughter Sanjida died in the burning van. But he was saved by going down with his little daughter Sadia. According to the emergency department of Gazipur Sadar Hospital, Adam Ali's leg and Sadia's leg were injured in the fire.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami's strike is still going on with the blockade. Today, Wednesday and Thursday, they have called this hartal. Law and order forces have ensured extensive security in the capital. Police, RAB and BGB are deployed at various junctions. Law enforcement agencies are on alert to prevent any untoward incident. Even today minibus, tempo, CNG are running in the capital. But it seems a little less than the other day. There is panic among the public.
