The third largest mosque in the world is Masjid al-Nabawi in Saudi Arabia. The literal meaning of Masjid Nabawi is Prophet's Mosque. It refers to the Medina Mosque built by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) after his migration to Madinah. After the Hijra, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) built the 'Madina Masjid' or 'Masjid Nabawi' for Muslims to pray. It took 7 months to build this mosque. The construction period of the Medina Mosque is determined from after September 622 AD to the middle of 623 AD.

Inside this mosque is the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). There are graves of Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) and Hazrat Usman (RA) on both sides of the Holy Prophet's (RA). Especially before or after the performance of Hajj, the pilgrims stay at least 8 days in one stretch and offer 40 Rakat prayers.
