The Dhaka Times Desk The government of Nepal has taken the plan to start Wi-Fi zone in various base camps on the way to climb various peaks of the Himalayas including Everest. Free internet access will be available in these zones placed at specific locations.

Nepal has taken such initiatives to facilitate information exchange during various natural disasters besides increasing tourism business. In this regard, Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) Chairman Digambar Jha said that initially two Wi-Fi zones will be launched in Lukla-EBC and Annapurna.
This number will be increased later. In addition to launching free Wi-Fi zones on Everest, the government of Nepal is going to launch free Wi-Fi zones in more than a thousand remote villages of Nepal. This initiative is being taken to facilitate the establishment of internet connection worldwide.
