Where is the average of Dharmapala? Dharmapala Garh is an archaeological monument located in Garh Dharmapal village in Dharmapal Union on the east bank of Deonai River in Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari District. Excavation work started here in 1990 but could not be completed completely. Later in 2016 re-excavation under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture led to the discovery of the Dharmapala Gard.
According to historical sources, after the death of Gopal Pal, the founder of the Pal dynasty, his son Dharmapal Raj ascended the throne and established the capital 20 kilometers away from Jaldhaka Upazila to manage the state. Later, he built a huge earthen wall around the capital to protect it from foreign enemies. Basically since then this place was named as Dharmapala Gad. 1 mile east of this center are the ruins of the Pala capital and ancient Buddhist temples. Also, the Dighi of Chandanpath, spread over an area of about 33 bighas, still retains the memories of the Pala period. Currently, a housing project called Gadha Dharmapala has been developed near these ruins.

There are direct bus services to Nilphamari from Collegegate, Gabtali or Mohakhali in the capital Dhaka. You can also go to Nilphamari by Nilsagar Express train from Kamalapur or Airport Railway Station. Again you can go to Nilphamari by going to Syedpur from Dhaka by domestic airlines. You can go to Jaldhaka upazila by bus or CNG from Nilphamari district town and take an auto rickshaw to visit Dharmapal Garh at Garh Hat located about 15 km away.
