Roopban Mura is the name of an archaeological site located in Kotbari, about 9 km from Comilla city. In the 1990s, one of the monuments of ancient history of Bangladesh located near the Comilla-Kalibazar road was excavated. It is said that this place is one of the signs of Rahim and Roopban's love. Archeological excavations have recovered the ruins of a 34.14 and 25 meter vihara (monk's hermitage) and a 28.96 meter temple from Rupban Mura. A large elaborate Buddha image and 5 coins were also found from the eastern side of the temple, which are preserved in the Mainamati Museum. It is believed that these archaeological monuments were built between 7th and 12th centuries. Standing on the top of Roopban Mura's tall Vihar offers a mesmerizing view of the sunset. To go to Roopban Mura you have to come to Comilla district. Comilla can be reached by train and bus from Dhaka. From Kamalapur you can reach Comilla by various trains bound for Chittagong including Mahanagar Prabhati/Godhuli, Akashto Express, Paharika Express and Turna Nishita.
By road from Syedabad or Kamalapur bus stand in Dhaka, apart from non-AC/AC buses like Royal Coach, Asia Aircon, Asia Line, BRTC, Prince, Trisha, you can go to Chittagong or Feni to Comilla. Bus fare will be from 170 taka to 300 taka. Alight at Kotbari bus stand in Comilla by bus and you can reach Rupban Mura located on the hill between Bard and BGB establishments just south of Comilla-Kali Bazaar.
