The entire India is terrified of locust attacks. The locusts are already destroying miles of cultivated fields, especially in several states of northern India. In the midst of all this, a North Indian farmer has discovered an amazing anti-locust device. Superintendent of Police of Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh Rahul Srivastava posted the video of his feat on social media. The video has gone viral since it was posted. Srivastava captioned the video, “Locusts are at the root of discovery!” He termed the matter as 'gambling'. The meaning of this word in Hindi is to find an easy and cheap alternative way to solve a problem. Just as it happened this way.
It turns out that there is a huge airplane tied to the head of a tall pole in the middle of the farmland. This airplane is made from discarded ceiling fan blades, plastic bottles, cans, cardboard, etc. It spins wildly on the pole head and makes loud noises. That is why swarms of locusts will not approach the edge.
Earlier too Srivastava shared a video, titled 'DJ Car'. It roamed the fields of Uttar Pradesh singing loudly. It was also a 'jugad' to drive away locusts. Srivastava wrote, “DJ is not just about dancing and singing. The role of Dees in controlling locusts is truly undeniable. They are afraid of words.”
Last month, the Indian agriculture ministry said that 15 sprayers were also being brought from England. Locusts can be easily driven away with them. But the machine has not arrived yet. So the local efforts of the local people are the hope now.
A swarm of locusts has already invaded Chhattisgarh's Karia district from Madhya Pradesh, India. Chhattisgarh government recently said this. Each district of Chhattisgarh currently has special teams made up of officers from agriculture, forest, fruit growing and revenue departments.
