The Dhaka Times Desk Prominent industrialist of the country, Chairman of Jamuna Group and valiant freedom fighter Nurul Islam Babul has passed away (Innalillahi Wayna Ilaihi Raziun).
He died today Monday (July 13) while undergoing treatment at Ever Care Hospital (formerly Apollo) in the capital. On his death, President Md. Abdul Hamid expressed grief.
He was 74 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife MP Salma Islam, one son and three daughters.
On June 14, Nurul Islam Babul was diagnosed with corona positive. After that he was admitted to Ever Care Hospital. His kidney was damaged due to Corona. A medical board consisting of 10 members was formed under the leadership of Dr. Brigadier General (Retd.) Mahbud of Ever Care for the treatment of this distinguished industrial doctor.
Apart from this, 4 specialist doctors from China and 2 specialist doctors from Mound Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore also gave advice through teleconference.
Nurul Islam Babul is the founder of Dainik Jugantar and Jamuna Television. He built at least 38 industries under the Yamuna Group, creating employment for thousands of people.
Along with the ownership of national daily Jugantar and Yamuna Television, Yamuna Group also has businesses in textiles, chemicals, leather, motorcycles, electronics, beverages, toiletries.
Jamuna Group is a large industrial group in Bangladesh. Nurul Islam Babul founded this group in 1974. He built these institutions one by one in industry and service sector through talent, skill, hard work and courage. Also, this group has managed to hold the top position in the industry and services sector including Asia's largest shopping mall Yamuna Future Park, under construction Marriotts Hotel Yamuna.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) he will be buried with state honors at Banani graveyard after a short prayer in front of Jamuna Future Park.
