The Dhaka Times Desk Fighting continues between Azerbaijan and Armenia over control of the Karabakh region. Hundreds of people have been killed in the conflict so far, but none of the sides is giving up.

The Azerbaijani government says at least 12 of its civilians have been killed in the Armenian attack. 35 people were injured. They also did not release details of military casualties.
On the other hand, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the attack by Azerbaijan's armed forces had also caused military and civilian casualties. Many have lost their lives.
Authorities in the Karabakh region said 84 soldiers had lost their lives there. Although the location of Karabakh region is inside Azerbaijan, it is controlled by the supporters of Armenia.
Both sides have suffered heavy losses in the conflict, but both countries have rejected the possibility of negotiating. Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview given to the Russian state TV channel that they will not negotiate with Armenia.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the same thing. He said that clashes and tensions continued. In this situation, there is no possibility of any negotiation with Azerbaijan.
A fresh clash between the two countries' armies started on Sunday morning over the control of the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Both Azerbaijan and Armenia are neighbors of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke to the foreign ministers of the two countries on an urgent basis after the new border conflict started. He called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to immediately establish a ceasefire and engage in negotiations under international law.
It should be noted that in the late 1980s, a war broke out between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Karabakh region. In 1991, when the former Soviet Union collapsed, the conflict reached its final shape. At least 30,000 people lost their lives in the conflict until a ceasefire was established between the two sides in 1994.
