This 15 kg Gui snake was released on July 27 in the Khadim reserve forest of the forest department.
The previous day on July 26 in the evening, Mohammad Ali Makku Mia, a resident of Mehazir Colony of Gauri Shankar village of the upazila, saw this rare snake weighing 15 kg. He captured the Gui snake and informed a local reporter. After receiving the news of Gui snake capture, the cooperation of North Sylhet Range-2, Jaflong Forest Division Officer Mustafizur Rahman was sought. A 20-member rescue team led by Jaflong Beat officer Mostafizur Rahman reached Makku Mia's house at 9:30 pm. Meanwhile, Muhammad Ali Makku Mia handed over the snake to them.
Makku Mia said that he has saved many wild animals from the hunters who have broken away at different times. He said, it is our responsibility to protect wildlife from poachers. Jaflong beat officer Mostafizur Rahman said Makku Mia's role in protecting wildlife is extraordinary. Earlier, he hatched 8 chicks from abandoned eggs of Sarail ducks and released them to local journalists. Like Makku Mia, if everyone in the country came forward to save wildlife, then many wild animals in our country would be saved. Makku Mia's activities have been called by many as 'Tarzan' of Bangladesh. Like Tarzan had an affinity with wild animals. Just like Tarzan in the movie is always aware of protecting wild animals, in reality Makku Mia, a resident of Sylhet, Bangladesh is working to protect animals.
