Consumers in the United States will soon be able to get their hands on helmets made by a company called Cornell. This $50,000 helmet can speak loudly and read people's minds. It uses sensors and electronic devices that can measure and analyze the electrical impulses of the brain, the blood flow of thought!
According to news media, these technologies are now in the world. But to see that requires millions of dollars of equipment and patients to be transported to a clinical set-up. But the company is bringing these technologies in a helmet. Anyone can walk around wearing this helmet.
The researchers hope that through this, it will be possible to investigate things like brain maturation, mental instability, stroke more closely. Brian Johnson took 5 years to make the helmet. It cost about 11 million dollars! Half of which he collected from his own money and the rest in the form of funds. Johnson is the CEO of this startup company called Cornell.
Cornell's early helmets were targeted at brain research institutes. Companies that want to see how people think about their products will use this helmet. Johnson said, by 2030, they want to bring the price of this helmet down to the price of a smartphone.
Johnson also said, these helmet users can take their mental health seriously, and even the root cause of American political polarization can be learned through it!
