These data emerged from the 'National Cyber Security Index (NCSI)' or the National Cyber Security Index by the Estonia-based e-Governance Academy Foundation. The National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) is created by evaluating the cyber security and digital development situation of different countries of the world, especially the preparedness to prevent cyber attacks, cyber incidents, crimes and major crisis management.
Bangladesh tops South Asia with a score of 59.74 in the NCSI index. Among the countries in this region, India's position is 39th. Sri Lanka and Pakistan are ranked 69th and 70th respectively in the index.
Greece topped the world with a score of 96.10 in the latest index published on the NCSI website. Czech Republic and Estonia are in second and third place with scores of 92.21 and 90.91 respectively. Also, the United States ranks 17th; The UK is in 19th place.
Among the first 20 countries in the world, the only representative of Asia is Singapore, the country's position is number 16.
Tarek M. Barkatullah, Director of Bangladesh Government's BGD E-Gov Cert Project, told a news media about the rapid progress in cyber security index, 'Bangladesh's capability in cyber security is increasing day by day. This kind of recognition will encourage us to counter cyber attacks and also help in enhancing Bangladesh's cyber security capabilities.'
