The Dhaka Times Desk LG in Seoul, South Korea20 people were injured in an accident during the promotion of the new smartphone G2. Among them, 7 seriously injured people have been admitted to the hospital.
Recently LG launched their new smartphone G2 in the market. So as part of the G2 campaign, LG held an event in Seoul, South Korea where 100 balloons filled with helium gas were flown into the sky. Each balloon contained a voucher. The person who pops the balloon and grabs the voucher will get a free LG G2 smartphone. As a result, as soon as the event begins, there is an excitement and rush among all the visitors. The situation became more complicated when some of the visitors took part in the balloon bursting festival with BB pistols and knives. Eventually the joy turned to gloom, in no time 20 people were injured and 7 of them were hospitalized in critical condition. After the incident, LG announced the cancellation of their event.
Meanwhile, LG has temporarily stopped all promotions of their new smartphones. LG has accepted responsibility for the incident and said they will bear the medical expenses of all the injured.
LG said in a press release, “LG management sincerely regrets the loss caused to the Korean people who came to participate in the promotion of LG products. We can confirm that 7 of the injured are now hospitalized and their condition is not critical. We will bear the medical burden of all the casualties on behalf of the LG family.”
Meanwhile, LG is investigating the untoward incident, so that such incidents can be avoided in the future.
