This event bears the signature of Bangladesh's literary practice, where the presence of other cultural and artistic connoisseurs of the world beyond its own borders will attract attention. The 10th edition of Dhaka Lit Fest will be held on January 5-8 at Bangla Academy premises. The proud partner of this event is the British Council.

British Council has been supporting Dhaka Lit Fest since its inception and this year British Council is supporting 3 speakers and writers from UK to be a part of this event. They are - Alexandra Pringle, Wayne Shears and Sarvat Hasin. In addition to working as an editorial assistant at the renowned art magazine Art Monthly, Alexandra Pringle was the British Group Editor-in-Chief of Bloomsbury Publications and is a patron of the Index on Censorship. Wayne Shears is a Welsh-based poet, writer, playwright and television presenter. He won the Eric Gregory Award and the 1999 Vogue Talent Contest for Young Writers Award. Sarvat Hasin is an Oxford University graduate writer who was nominated for a DSC Award in the South Asian Literature category for the book 'This Wide Night'.

The British Council will create an opportunity for the youth of this country to interact with 3 writers from the UK through various activities such as talks and workshops in Dhaka and Chittagong. The event aims to enlighten the next generation of Bangladesh and strengthen their links with the UK. Moreover, one of the aims of this initiative is to introduce foreign writers to the literature and art of this country.

A creative writing workshop with teachers will also be held on January 9 at the British Council's Fuller Road premises in the presence of Sarbhat Hasin. There will also be an opportunity to discuss writing and publishing with Alexandra Pringle. The British Council will help organize workshops for university students at two universities in Chittagong where Wayne Shears will present a range of views on poetry and climate change.

This year, the British Council will assist visitors to its stall with IELTS tips and tricks, live caricature activities and information on the British Council's Teaching Center offerings, and an interactive heritage exhibit to highlight the connection between young generations, women and heritage. Also, Yatrik Productions in collaboration with the British Council will perform 'Kank O Leela' (Mymensingh Geetika) with the participation of differently abled people during the festival.

It should be noted that the British Council has been cooperating with the organization of Dhaka Lit Fest organized as a part of Hay Festival International in 2011 since its inception. Over the past few years, Dhaka Lit Fest has grown into an independent and popular event organized at the Bangla Academy premises, bringing together Bangladeshi and international writers.
