The Dhaka Times Desk The new council of ministers of the all-party government is going to take oath today. The Council of Ministers of about 30 members, including 7 members of the Jatiya Party, will take oath today.
The President will swear in the Council of Ministers of this all-party government today at 3 pm at Bangabhaban. It is heard that Jatiya Party will join this all-party government. Meanwhile, TV channels have announced the names of 7 national parties. Among them are Begum Roshan Ershad, Ruhul Amin Halder, Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, GM Quader, Mojibul Haque and Salma Islam. In this regard, the party has called an emergency press conference at the office of the Jatiya Party Chairman at 11:30 am today. Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad's spokesperson and presidium member Kazi Firoz Rashid said that HM Ershad will make an official announcement about his decision today. The decision is expected to be announced after the meeting.
Several members of the current cabinet are staying in this new cabinet. They are Abul Mal Abdul Muhit, Syed Ashraful Islam, Matia Chowdhury, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Shafiq Ahmed, Obaidul Quader, Nurul Islam Nahid, Dipu Moni and Hasanul Haque. There are rumors that senior party leaders Amir Hossain Amu and Tofail Ahmed may join the cabinet.
Meanwhile, BNP termed this all-party government as a 'joke' with the nation. He made such comments to reporters yesterday.
It is to be noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Sunday evening. It is said that they discussed the current political situation and all-party formation.
