The Dhaka Times Desk Today is the second day of the 72-hour blockade called by the 18-party alliance. Even today, massive clashes and arson have taken place at various places along with vandalism on the railways.

These siege activities started from late night. Dhaka-Rajshahi rail communication was severed when 5 coaches including Dhumketu Express engine derailed due to uprooting of railway line in Rajshahi at night.
The Meghna Express train bound for Chittagong got stuck due to the removal of the faceplate of the railway line at Shahrasti in Chandpur. This incident happened on Saturday.
Meanwhile, several incidents happened in the capital today. There were several cocktail explosions in the morning at Farmgate. Picketing in Mirpur. Supporters of 18 parties marched in several places including Jatrabari, Old Dhaka.

On the first day of the 72-hour blockade called by the BNP-led 18-party alliance, clashes, fires, vandalism, cocktail and petrol bomb attacks took place in various parts of the country, including the capital, on Saturday. Obstructions were created on the highway by burning tires and throwing tree trunks. Another petrol bomb attack took place on a passenger bus in the capital's Malibag yesterday night. When the driver tried to escape with the bus, one passenger was killed. Two people were seriously burnt in the fire incident in that bus.
On the other hand, violent incidents took place in different parts of the country yesterday. An unidentified youth was killed after falling from the roof of a bus while being chased by picketers in Shibganj, Bogra. A cyclist was killed by a bus in Malahar of the same upazila. A camp worker was killed in a clash with the police at Kotchandpur in Jhenaidah. A pedestrian Nimai Nath (50) was killed when the truck fell into a ditch in Satkania. Nimainath is the son of Jatindranath of East Nathpara of South Bhurshi of Patia Upazila. Youth Dal activist Mahbub (35) was killed by a truck during picketing on Ishwardi-Pakshi highway in Ishwardi. His house is in the neighboring Mirkamari area. On the other hand, a person was killed in an explosion while making a cocktail in Faridpur. In these incidents, more than 150 policemen were injured in clashes across the country. A man named Jillur (36) died in an explosion while making a cocktail in Faridpur. He is the son of Jamal Sardar of Pangsha Upazila of Rajbari District.
