Siege continues: Scattered clashes at various places: Yesterday 10: Today 2 killed

The Dhaka Times Desk Today is the fifth day of the blockade called by the 18-party alliance. Even today, massive clashes and arson have taken place at various places along with vandalism on the railways. Even today 1 person died in train accident and 1 person got burnt in fire.

BNP led continuous blockade continues. There have been incidents of uprooting of railway lines and massive clashes with the police in different parts of the country. Today 1 person was killed and at least 30 injured when 2 coaches derailed at Lalmonirhat due to open face plates. 2 coaches of Shantahar-bound Padmarag train derailed from Lalmonirhat at Bonarpara in Gaibandha due to open face plates. 1 person was killed and at least 30 passengers were injured.

On the other hand, 4 coaches along with engine of Nakshi Katha mail train were derailed due to opening of face plate. Due to which train movement is stopped on Khulna-Dhaka route.

Meanwhile, one more person was injured and died in a petrol bomb attack on a passenger bus of Bihang Paribahan in front of Shishu Park in Shahbagh. He died in the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital early this morning. It is known that the deceased's name is Wahidur Rahman Babu. His house is in Begamganj of Noakhali. He was a first year student of Political Science Department of Dhaka College. With this, the death toll in this incident stands at three.

Obstructions were created on the highway by burning tires and throwing tree trunks. At least 10 people died across the country yesterday.

Miscreants set fire to a compartment of the Rangpur Express train at Kamalapur railway station on Tuesday night. But there was no damage. In this incident, 2 seat covers of the train were burnt. Miscreants set fire to a train compartment around 9:30 pm. The train workers brought the fire under control before the fire service personnel reached the spot.

2 Chhatra Dal and Juba Dal workers named Siam and Ratan were killed by police firing in Chandpur. BNP has called a strike today in this incident. Shariful Islam Russell, senior vice president of Muradpur Union Volunteers, was killed in a clash with the police at Barbakund on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at around 3 pm on Monday.

CNG autorickshaw driver Ismail lost control of his vehicle after being hit by bricks by picketers in Chittagong's Rangunia on Monday night. He died on the spot when the autorickshaw fell into a ditch. When picketers hurled petrol bombs at a covered van near Siemens Hostel in Chittagong on Monday night, driver Mahbub lost his life while jumping down. The van's helper and a passenger were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital's burn unit with burns. Helper under treatment at around 8:30 p.m. Mizanur Rahman (27) died.
