The Dhaka Times Desk The hartal of Jamaat-e-Islami has been added to the blockade of 18 parties. Strikes and blockades are going on. Although no untoward incidents have occurred in the capital, isolated incidents including clashes and fires continue in different parts of the country.
Local transport including minibuses, tempos, CNG, rickshaws are running as usual in the capital. The office-court is open. Trains are running like other days, long distance buses have not left.
On the other hand, there have been reports of violence in different parts of the country. Roads have been blocked by tree stumps in Pakhir Mor and Bakhtarkandi areas of Munshiganj.
The road has been blocked in Rupganj of Narayanganj. The occupiers picketed in the morning. They vandalized and set fire to various vehicles.
There was an incident of police chase and counter chase with the besiegers in Fatulla. Attempts at picketing resulted in a counter-chase.
Picketing has been done by blocking the road at Mazumdarbari in Sylhet. In the morning, Jamaat-Shibir workers started arson and vandalism.
The protestors are protesting by burning tires and blocking the road in Noor Nagar area of Khulna.
Meanwhile, a camp worker was killed yesterday while making cocktails in Sitakunda, Chittagong. A class four school student named Russell Hossain (12) was killed in a clash between 18 party workers and the police in Sirajganj.
On the other hand, 2 people died today in Ishwardi after being crushed by a truck. It is believed that the accident took place when the truck was driving at a reckless speed due to the blockade.
