The Dhaka Times Desk The 18-party alliance led by BNP has again called a 72-hour blockade. Meanwhile, a derailment occurred on the Dhaka-Chittagong route yesterday before the blockade began.
The 18-team program had only a 4-day break due to Friday and Victory Day. However, due to the Jamaat-e-Islami strike on Sunday and massive violence on Friday after the execution of Quader Mollah's verdict, 3 of those 4 days were closed. Only because December 16 is Victory Day, people have come out safely. And so yesterday the image of the capital was completely different. There was a massive traffic jam in the capital. In the morning, people flocked to Savar's memorial. On the other hand, there is a national ceremony at the national parade ground in the morning and a world record by the world's largest human flag in the afternoon and a huge rally at the historic Suhrawardy Maidan. Due to these events yesterday the capital Dhaka turned into a traffic jam city.
Meanwhile, on the day before the blockade yesterday, a coach of the Nasirabad Express train departing from Chittagong derailed near Gunavati station of Chouddagram, Comilla, and the train movement between Dhaka and Chittagong was stopped. After crossing the Gunavati railway station after 9 pm yesterday, the train fell into the accident between two signals. Due to which train movement on Dhaka-Chittagong route was stopped.
Generally, the derailment of the train is considered to be sabotage, but the railway authorities believe that there is no link between this incident and any sabotage activities.
Meanwhile, the situation in the capital Dhaka is normal today. Law enforcement is on alert. A large number of police-RAB patrolling at various points. No untoward incident was reported till the morning of writing this report.
