The Dhaka Times Desk The EU has said that BNP must stay away from Jamaat and Hefazat to consider the future interests of democratic Bangladesh.
The European Union (EU) Parliament has called on the BNP and said that it should keep a clear distance from Jamaat-e-Islami and Hefazat-e-Islam, taking into account the future interests of democratic Bangladesh.
On the other hand, the organization of 27 countries of Europe, which is known as the cradle of democracy, has also said to ban organizations involved in terrorist activities. The EU Parliament has also called on the government to release detained opposition leaders, subject to an independent and impartial investigation into the deaths in pre- and post-election violence.
On the other hand, in the resolution passed by the EU Parliament on Bangladesh last Wednesday, Jamaat has been held responsible for the trial of war criminals and election-centered political violence and minority torture.
Requesting the BNP to sever ties with Jamaat-e-Islami and Hefazat-e-Islami, the EU Parliament also said, 'It is for the sake of the future of Bangladesh that democratic reputation should be achieved. For this, mutual respect and culture should be increased. At the same time, BNP must create a clear distance with Jamaat-e-Islami and Hefazat-e-Islami.
Meanwhile, the EU Parliament has called for the banning of Jamaat-Shibir or any other organization as a terrorist organization. Jamaat-Shibir violence, killings, killings, hurling petrol bombs on vehicles and killing many people across the country centered on war crimes trials. The International Criminal Tribunal has named Jamaat as a terrorist organization in its observations. In view of this, a writ case is pending in the High Court regarding the banning of Jamaat.
Meanwhile, regarding Jamaat yesterday, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's advisor Barrister Shajahan Omar said in an event, 'We (BNP) will survive if Jamaat-e-Islami is banned. Then everyone will become BNP. The government can ban Jamaat only through an order.'
It should be noted that after the formation of the new government, whenever there is talk about the 11th parliamentary elections, the issue of banning Jamaat Shibir comes up. After banning the registration of Jamaat, now demands for their ban are coming from all quarters.
