The Dhaka Times Desk Today marks the first anniversary of the Rana Plaza building collapse in Savar. Today this tragic day is being celebrated not only in Bangladesh but worldwide. A dress-down program has been undertaken in London to commemorate the day.
On this day in 2013, many garment workers were killed in a tragic building collapse at Rana Plaza in Savar on April 24. It has been reported that an exceptional commemorative activity has been initiated in different cities of the world, including London, to celebrate the day of that tragic incident.
Conscious citizens of the world have decided to celebrate this day as 'Fashion Revolution Day' in order to motivate the buyers and consumers of different countries of the world. One such program has been taken in London. The tragic day will be commemorated by drawing consumers' attention to the label by wearing their clothes inside out.
Students from the London College of Fashion and fashion stars will appear as a flash mob on Oxford Street, London's main shopping area. It is called 'Fashmob'. In the afternoon, another flashmob is being organized at Bricklane in Bangla Town.
Many still find
Many people were killed after the Rana Plaza building collapsed. Many bodies were recovered at that time. Many bodies are buried as disinherited. Because after many days, the bodies were not recognized as a result of recovery. In such a situation, many bodies were identified by doing DNA tests with the families of the deceased. But even among these, many have not been found. Even the body was not found. Again, there is no trace of the dead or alive. They did not receive any compensation. Because simple village people come to Dhaka and work in garments. They had no other documents except ID card. And ID card stays with people. Many families could not show any documents during the incident. And so they were not rescued nor did they get any compensation. Such a number is not less. They are still searching for their loved ones. A very sad result has happened in many families. Many people are witnessing the tragedy of Savar.
