The Dhaka Times Desk Businessman Syed Saiful Islam, who was abducted from Sanar Par area of Siddhirganj, Naragganj on Thursday, was rescued from Nabinagar in Savar yesterday at around 11:30 pm. RAB-4 rescued him and took him to RAB office. Saiful narrated the incident to reporters at night.
After 26 hours, RAB rescued businessman Saiful and brought him to their office. Then at 1:35 PM he appeared in front of the journalists. First, a RAB officer gave a brief account of the incident. RAB official said that we have given first aid to Saiful Islam. He is still sick. We will give him time to speak very briefly. Then he let Saiful, who was sitting next to him, speak.
Syed Saiful Islam highlighted the incident in his speech and said, “At night I leave to return home. Then they pushed me from behind and took me to the microbus. Beat me home with a stick. Then I don't know where they turned me on the micro. Puts me at the feet of the micro. This morning I was given a poutique and water. Then they leave me where they go. They didn't come all day. He came later at night and told me, come on. Brought in the car. He brought my hands under my feet in the car and put me down. After I got down I knew it was Nabinagar. They untied me and kicked me in the car. Then I grabbed a gentleman and came to the hotel. Then RAB brought me from there."
During this speech of Saiful, he looked quite devastated. Journalists asked him at this time whether he recognized anyone or not. He said, I don't know anyone. In response to the question of who can do such a thing, Saiful said, I have no enemy. Because I don't know who did such a thing.
RAB took businessman Saiful to their office after rescuing them. Saiful's wife rushed there after getting the news. It is known that after arriving at Bismillah Hotel near Savar Memorial, Saiful first told his wife on his mobile phone. When his wife informed RAB, RAB rescued him.
Saiful told RAB that the youths were between 18 and 22. They were 7 to 8 in number.
It is to be noted that he was abducted while returning home around 9 pm on Thursday. Later, a ransom of Rs 20 lakh was demanded from his manager. On Friday, there was a day-long protest across Narayanganj. When the news spread that businessman Saiful had been kidnapped, people started gathering from early morning. Businessmen closed their businesses. Blocked the road. Later, when the Superintendent of Police gave an assurance, the protestors set time till evening. When they tried to block the road again in the evening, the police dispersed them by firing blanks and baton charges.
Meanwhile, detective police arrested Saiful's manager Hannan yesterday afternoon. Another woman named Nargis was arrested by the DB police from Jatrabari at night.
