Sources said that the abductors initially demanded Tk 2 crore as ransom, but Shishu Parag Mandal was rescued with a ransom of Tk 50 lakh.
In this regard, Parag's father's friend present at Square Hospital told reporters that the abductors called Parag's father on Tuesday evening and informed that Parag was kept at Amin Bazar in Savar. At that time they demanded 2 crore rupees as ransom. After that he informed the police and the police launched an operation.
Another source said that in the evening, after paying Tk 50 lakh as ransom, Parag's father was informed over the phone that Parag could be found in Atipara area of Keraniganj.
The abductors left Parag in a dark area in front of a shop in Atipara on Tuesday around 12 midnight.
Meanwhile, Parag's relatives said that Parag was believed to have been administered anesthetic. Because of that, he is noted to be shy. After that, he was admitted to the ICU of Square Hospital in Panthpath of the capital. Currently Parag's parents, relatives, police, RAB, media workers are present there.
It is to be noted that on the morning of November 11, on the way to school, the six-year-old child was kidnapped by motorcycle-riding miscreants who shot his mother, sister and the driver. The incident took place in Subhadhya Paschimpara of Keraniganj, the outskirts of the capital. On that day, Parag's mother Lipi Mondal (33), sister Pinaki Mondal (11) and driver Nazrul Islam (35) were injured by the kidnappers.
