According to media reports, the abduction took place near the city of Kirkuk. The abductees were working on the construction of a hospital building near the city of Kirkuk.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey said that the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad is investigating the abduction of the 60 foreign nationals. Among those abducted are 15 Turkish nationals. However, the news agencies did not confirm how many Bangladeshi citizens are among the abductees.
The Dogan news agency quoted an official released from ISIL as saying that the abducted construction workers included citizens of Pakistan, Nepal and Turkmenistan in addition to Bangladesh.
It is to be noted that recently, after Iraq's ISIL occupied Mosul, in such a situation in Iraq, the Bangladesh government has ordered to stop sending workers there.
